Glass eyeballs rattle, rotate, slide and multiply. In 1942 Aldous Huxley wrote ‘The Art of Seeing’ in which he discussed the Bates Method of improving eyesight. Reflecting on Huxley’s narrative explorations Aldous’s Eyes is a visual exploration of perceptual phenomena. Glass eyeballs from the History of Medicines Collection, David M. Susan MacWilliam represented Northern Ireland at the 2009 Venice Biennale. Susan is a lecturer in Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Her video works are held in the British Library Sound Archive. Aldous’s Eyes is a visual exploration of perceptual phenomena.
